On Sunday, December 14th, 2003, a friendly Mahjong competition was held at the Furama Restaurant. There was an entry fee of $25 for each contestant that included a dinner. Thank you to our producer and consultants: Eddie Lau, Lee Tak Ming, Eden Chan and Dennis Lai for making this event possible. Our Hong Kong Club committee members: Josephine Luk, Bennie Chu, Chris Huang, King Tse, and Dobby Yu also joined in the fun. From 2:00 pm in the afternoon to 9:30 pm in the evening, the competition and dinner went on for the whole day. Friends, family, and committee members gathered together to host this fun event for all.
Mahjong is a popular activity amongst the elders, as this sport works out one’s brains, hands and finger motor skills. At the end of the night, the four winners were revealed and congratulated. At fourth place is Maggie Mei, third place goes to Peter Yeung, second place was taken by a modest player who didn’t want to give a name and first place goes to Simon Tse.
We had a great outcome this year and were shocked by all who participated in the event.
