The 2002 China Cup Golf Championship took place at Carillon Golf Club, L.L.C, on Sunday, September 15th, 2002. This year’s golf championship was produced by See Y. Wong, fellow committee members: Alan Chu, Tak Ming Lee, Francis Yip, Eden Chan, Dobby Yu, King Tse, Peter Chan, and Rita Ho participated in the event. We were honored to have the Consul General of China again with us this year for the opening ceremony.
Many great golfers were on the green today and while everyone played their best, here are a few that stood out amongst the crowd. With the longest drive are: Walter Yuen, Norman Shaun, Erica Chianelli, and Wei M. Huang. Four people got the closest to the pin: Richard Li, Clem Fiandalo, Ng jang Yip, and Ken Chin. Two people had the longest putt: Lori Huff and Eddy Cheung. Low Net goes to three individuals: (1) Linval Chung, (2) Peter Chan, and (3) Dave Pinkerton. Everyone put all their energy and efforts in their game and amidst the crowd, five came up victorious. At fifth place was James Lau. Third and fourth place scored the same, Dennis Lau and Steve Tao, respectively. Second place was taken by Frank Ting and the first place winner of the 2001 annual China Cup Golf Championship is Patrick Chin. Congratulations to all the winners of this year’s China Cup Golf Championship. We appreciate everyone who came out to participate in this event and helped to create many great memories together.
After a long day of golfing under the sun the awards were presented at the Dragon Light Restaurant where golfers, with their families and friends, were able to sit and enjoy some delicious food as the golfers got their recognition and awards.
We had a great outcome from this golf outing; thank you to all those who participated and made this event possible. Please look forward to the 2003 China Cup Golf Championship.
